The challenge

Nocturne had outgrown the logo a friend drew in 2014. With forty artists and a growing vinyl club, the label needed an identity flexible enough for every genre but still recognisable from across a record shop.

Our approach

We built the identity around a single idea: the label is a moon that changes phase with every release. One circular mark, eight phases, and a sleeve grid that lets each artist bring their own artwork while the label stays unmistakable.

Every detail designed to work as hard as the big idea.

From the first sketches to the final files, we worked side by side with the Nocturne Records team, testing ideas in the real world before polishing a single pixel.

Halfmoon understood the label better than we did. Two years on, every sleeve, poster and post still feels like us.
